Peacefully passed away with family by his side on Monday, March 18, 2024 at AR Goudie LTC Kitchener in his 85th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Eileen (Perkins) Taylor for 61 years. Dear father of Scott (Shelly), Terry (Rebecca Forler), and Tracey (Mike Martin). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Daniel, Dalton, Kristen, Noah, Riley and Jamie. Don is remembered by Eileen’s family the late Ronald (Louise), Garry (Kim), Glen, James (Francine) and their families. Predeceased by his parents Donald and Alvira (Stinson) Taylor. Don started with the TD Bank in Ottawa in 1959 and came to Elmira in 1980. He retired from the bank in 1996. Don was also an independent mortgage broker from 1998 to 2010. He was very actively involved in the community including the Elmira Lions Club (Melvin Jones Fellowship Award), Woolwich Agriculture Society (Honourary Lifetime Member), Woolwich Community Fund, and was an active member of Gale Presbyterian Church. He was a man of many talents, playing the organ, piano and accordion. Don was known for his dry wit, sense of humour, and his ability to identify a good red wine and a smooth scotch. He was a special part of his grandchildren’s lives; he enjoyed attending their sports and activities, and cheering them on. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. with a reception. Spring interment in Elmview Cemetery, Kars, Ontario. Donations to the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington or Gale Presbyterian Church would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
