Peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Sunday, October 22, 2023, Donald “Don” Hugh Rose, of Wellesley, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband, bartender and best friend for almost 60 years of Sharon Beverly Rose (2021). Cherished father and father in-law of David Rose (Chris), Denise Foster and John Rose (Stephanie). Proud Grandpa of Kyle Rose, Jeffrey Foster (Christina), Andrew Foster (Genevieve), Courtney Rose (Dryden) and Tyler Rose (Amelia). Excited and proud great Grandpa to Noah Foster, while also being a long-suffering Toronto Maple Leafs fan (1967), and avid Blue Jay watcher. He is survived by his sister in-law, Del Latham, and predeceased by his brother Ray, and sisters Claudia, Kay, Madge, Doloris, Chris, Lena and Shirly and his parents John “Jack” and Elizabeth. A successful businessman, his work ethic was only eclipsed by his efforts as a father and friend. Don always made those around him feel better about themselves with a quick smile or a good laugh. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate you spending time with family or those important to you, going out with friends, or walking the beach as Dad so often loved to do when he could. He would often stop, inhale deeply and ask rhetorically if those around him could “smell that”? It was life he was breathing in. If you are so inclined, donations can be made to Myositis Canada or a charity of your choice.
As per Don’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a private celebration of life for both Don and Sharon sometime in spring/summer 2024.
