If you and your family like to get away to the campground, why not pitch your tent for a great cause?
Family Camping Weekend is an annual event that is set to raise funds for the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region to rebuild Anselma House. The organizing committee has pledged to raise $125,000 over four years toward furnishing the shelter.
The event has been moved to Aug. 21-23 this year, to avoid conflict with Moparfest. Organizers are hoping for well over 200 cars and motorcycles at this year’s Show and Shine on Saturday night.
The event kicks off Friday with a movie night under the stars. The canoe trip that was part of previous events has been replaced by a carnival on Saturday.
Saturday night, you can try your hand in the Monte Carlo casino. A $20 donation gets you $200 in Monte Carlo chips to use on blackjack, roulette, crown and anchor or the poker tournament.
To sign up for the event, call the West Montrose Family Campground to book your site at 519-669-2129.
