Police investigate suspicious person in Wellesley Township

Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a report of a suspicious person in Wellesley Township.

On July 19 at approximately 6:40 p.m., a female was biking in the area of Lichty Road and Ament Line, when she was followed by an unknown male in a vehicle.

The unknown male was described as a white and approximately 40 years. The male was driving a small four-door car, light in colour.

JULY 26

11:10 AM | Perth County OPP are seeking the public's assistance regarding an attempt abduction on Perth Road 131 just south of Line 86 in the Township of Perth East. A youth was riding their bike on Perth Road 131 when they were stopped by a male standing outside of his vehicle. The suspect gestured the youth to stop. The suspect began to ask multiple questions, made some inappropriate comments and then grabbed the youth. The youth was able to get free after a short struggle. The vehicle immediately left the area and was last seen travelling northbound on Perth Road 131. The suspect is described as a White male, 30-40s, approximately 5’6” with a heavier build. He had short to medium dark hair and facial stubble. He had a slight accent and was last seen wearing a white button-up short sleeve shirt with a black vest. The vehicle is described as an older turquoise car (possibly a hatchback). The rims on the driver's side are rusted. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and is seeking the public's assistance. Anyone who may have been in the area of Perth Road 131 between Line 83 and Line 86 that has dashcam or anyone in the area who has home surveillance is being asked to contact police. 12:47 PM | Perth County OPP responded to Line 36 in the Township of Perth East for a report of a road rage incident where an edged weapon was displayed to another motorist. The involved vehicle and suspect were located and was taken into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries. As a results of the investigation, a 52-year-old Woodstock man was charged with ‘dangerous operation,’ ‘assault’ and ‘assault with a weapon.’ The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 21 to answer to the charges.

JULY 27

1:51 PM | Emergency services responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Manser Road and Streicher Line in Wellesley Township. A vehicle travelling east on Streicher Line collided with a vehicle travelling north on Manser Road, and the force of the impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and rollover. Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services transported six occupants to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Air Ambulance transported one occupant to an out-of-region hospital with critical injuries. The investigation is ongoing by WRPS' Traffic Services Unit and charges are pending. JULY 28

3:27 PM | Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a collision in the area of Gerber Road and Greenwood Hill Road in Wilmot Township. Through investigation, police determined that a vehicle was on Gerber Road waiting to turn left onto Greenwood Hill Road and another car was stopped just behind the turning vehicle. At the same time, a third driver approached both vehicles from behind. The driver failed to stop in time and struck the stopped vehicle and the turning vehicle. As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old male was charged with ‘careless driving.’

5:57 PM | Police responded to a collision in the area of Moser Young Road and Hessen Strasse in Wellesley Township. Through investigation, police learned that a vehicle was travelling east on Hessen Strasse and was stopped at the stop sign. Another vehicle was travelling north on Moser Young. The driver of the vehicle on Hessen Strasse pulled out into the roadway, striking the other vehicle. The driver of the struck vehicle sustained minor physical injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old male was charged with ‘traffic on through highway – fail to yield.’
