Passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the age of 85 years. Husband of the late Annie Martin (2020). Father of Naomi Martin, Miriam and Emanuel Gingrich all of Ariss, Cleason and Martha Martin of Matheson, Erla and Joseph Gingrich of Elmira, Anna and Edward Shantz of St. Clements. Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Brother of George and Almeda Martin, Mary and Orlan Martin, and brother-in-law of Lizzie Martin (Mrs. Sylvanus) and Melvin Bauman. Predeceased by his parents Amon and Mary Martin, sisters Hannah (Sylvanus) Martin, and Eva (Mrs. Melvin Bauman), and daughter Leah in infancy. Visitation was held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2-5 and 6:30-8 p.m., and on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the home of Joseph Gingrich, 1296 Balsam Grove Rd., Elmira. Family service took place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at the home, then to Winterbourne Mennonite Meeting House for burial and public service.
