Some trails in the Laurel Creek Conservation Area may be closed at times over the next month as the GRCA does maintenance work on the pine plantations with the park. The forestry work will involve removing dead and dying pine trees in areas that are infested with pine shoot beetle, an invasive exotic insect, as well as routine thinning operations to improve forest health.
A public information session is scheduled for Jan. 10 at the Laurel Creek Nature Centre, located at 525 Beaver Creek Road in Waterloo. A short presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m.
