Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 4, 2025 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Rev. John Cecil (Jack) Boyne (2001). Loving mother of Richard (Carolyn) of Kingsbridge, Ontario and Peter (Karen) of Calgary, Alberta. Proud grandmother of Sarah (Ben) Zavitz, Maggie Boyne, Holly Boyne (Alex Fensham), Lauren Boyne (Matt Kealey), and Ryan Boyne. Great-grandmother to Oliver Zavitz and Elliott Rose Zavitz. Lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Reg Pottruff, sister-in-law Kathy Boyne and cousin Anne Peet. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Ethel Ferguson, sisters Margaret Winter and Dorothy Pottruff, and brothers-in-law Wally Winter and Brian Boyne. Jean served many roles in her life - Deaconess of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, loving wife and partner in Ministry to Rev. Jack Boyne, loving mother, doting grandmother, legal secretary and steadfast friend. She enjoyed singing in church choirs and was an avid reader. Jean enjoyed many winter escapes at the condominium in Ft. Lauderdale but always loved returning to “her happy place”, the cottage on the shores of Lake Huron. The family would like to thank the staff at Caressant Care Retirement Home in Listowel for their loving care and support. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Gale Presbyterian Church, 10 Barnswallow Drive, Elmira with reception to follow. Family interment will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Listowel. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to Gale Presbyterian Church or St. Mary’s Cardiac Care through the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
