Predeceased by her parents George and Ethel Shoemaker.
We mourn the loss of Jean, a remarkable woman known for her unwavering compassion, kind spirit, and deep care for her family, friends, and community. Jean devoted her life to nurturing those around her, always putting the needs of others before her own. Born and raised on the family farm in West Montrose, Jean spent an incredible 93 years in the place she loved most. Her pride in her home and dedication to caring for her parents, husband, and children defined her life. She was an active and cherished member of her community and a devoted presence in the West Montrose United Church. Jean approached every day with purpose. Her greatest joy was being a friend, bringing laughter and warmth into the lives of others. Her cheerful laugh and genuine kindness will forever echo in our hearts. At her core, Jean held three guiding principles that shaped her life: love for her family, love for her faith, and love for sharing meals. Her conversations often began with caring questions: “How’s your family? Have you been to church? Would you like something to eat?” These simple yet profound values were a testament to her genuine, generous spirit and undoubtedly contributed to her long, happy, and healthy life. In a manner only fitting for her, Jean started her final day with a good breakfast before embarking on her journey to her eternal home, where she will be welcomed with open arms. God bless you Jean. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to AgeCare Elmira and University Gates for their compassionate care. A private family service will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Dreisinger Funeral Home. Interment to follow in West Montrose United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
