We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Greg Shantz, age 35, on August 1, 2024. Gregory was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his parents Bruce and Laurie (Abelson) Shantz, and his siblings, Amy Thompson (Greg), Brad Shantz, and Ryan Shantz (Brad). Greg was a loving uncle to Lily and Austin Thompson. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg will also be greatly missed by Sarah Favrin. Special dogs, Charlie, June and Henry will miss their friend. Gregory is also survived by his grandparents Barry and Marian Abelson. Predeceased by grandparents Bill and Joyce Shantz, and grandmother, Wanda Abelson. Gregory’s life was filled with joy, laughter, and a deep love for his family. He was known for his kindness, his sense of humour, and his unwavering support for those he cared about. Gregory enjoyed golfing with his family on weekends and cherished spending time in the great outdoors, where he found peace and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held to honour Gregory’s memory, and details will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Regional Cardiac Care Centre would be appreciated and may be made through the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
