Closed since Sept. 1, the Glasgow Street bridge in Conestogo reopened Wednesday evening following $36,000 in temporary repairs.
Load restrictions limit traffic to one vehicle at a time, however. Woolwich has implemented measures to reduce speed and prevent oversized vehicles from using the 123-year-old metal structure.
A long-term fix for other deficiencies will be discussed as part of the township’s 2010 budget deliberations. A recent engineering report on the bridge provides a range of options for rehabilitating the bridge, with prices ranging from $170,000 to $775,000.
