Elmira firefighters quickly extinguished a fire on the second-storey porch of a Memorial Avenue home Friday morning.
A passerby noticed the flame about 9:30 a.m., summoning the fire department to 11 Memorial Ave.
Township fire chief Dale Martin said the “very small fire” was contained before it could spread to the inside of the home. There was no significant structural damage to the house, he noted, estimating the repair costs to be minimal. No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but is believed to have been accidental.
