IN BUSINESS As of Wednesday the new fire substation in Breslau, located on Beacon Court Point, began responding to emergency calls. An offshoot of the Maryhill fire station, it’s staffed by a contingent of 14 volunteer firefighters. The growth of the community and the associated rise in traffic and emergency calls in the area made the new hall a necessity, identified by the township’s fire master plan. When a full station is eventually built sometime over the next four to five years, the substation – which cost upwards of $260,000 to build – will be used as permanent storage for the Township of Woolwich.
