Lorne Bowman of Floradale, Ontario (b. Woolwich Township, Feb. 23, 1945) passed away from several types of cancer in Elmira on Friday, March 29, 2024, several weeks after his 59th anniversary and 79th birthday. He is survived by his wife Elaine (neé Brubacher), son Durrell (Vicky), daughter Sheila; siblings Martha Gingrich, Ellen Clifford, Esther and Edgar Martin, Willard and Verna, and Lois Horst; sisters-in-law Cheryl Brubacher and Nancy Smith, and various nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Edna (neé Freeman), siblings Eva Brubacher, and Walter, parents-in-law Irvine and Lydia Brubacher (neé Kraemer), and brothers-in-law Leonard Brubacher, Elmer Clifford, and Aden Gingrich. Lorne worked for more than 41 years in the farm implement parts department of B&M/Stoltz Sales and Service. He served for a similar amount of time as a volunteer firefighter for the Floradale Fire Station, later also as a volunteer for Canadian Blood Services, and in many capacities at Floradale Mennonite Church and at the Parkview Manors seniors home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Floradale Mennonite Church, 22 Florapine Rd., Floradale. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Floradale Mennonite Church, with family interment prior to the service in the adjoining cemetery. The family thanks the staff at Barnswallow Place, various family members, and additional caregivers. Donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee and Canadian Blood Services.
