Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, Miranda Lambert, and Faith Hill – that’s a lineup with enough big-name talent to satisfy any country fan. And while Community Care Concepts’ Autumn Fest charity event won’t have the genuine articles, it will have a lineup of tribute artists to fool the ears and get the toes tapping.
“We had originally had Tim McGraw and Faith Hill perform at our volunteer recognition event back in the spring that we held in Wellesley, and it was very well-received,” said Cathy Harrington, executive director of Community Care Concepts.
“The couple who were the tribute artists are involved with a variety of other artists, and when we approached them about coming back to do a broader event for the general public, they had suggested these other acts would be a nice compliment to their work.
The nonprofit Community Care Concepts offers services for seniors and people with disabilities in Woolwich, Wellesley and Wilmot, including assisted transportation, Meals on Wheels, congregate dining, homemaking services, maintenance, and visiting.
“This event was one way we felt we could not only share with the community the work that we do, but also raise funds for the people who need our services,” noted Harrington.
“The demand for our services in terms of more individuals requiring services, as well as individuals requiring higher levels of service, has placed a strain on our ability to respond to those needs. Autumn Fest will help us to raise funds to support this increased need for service.”
Already, there is talk of similar events in the future. “We’ve taken on a country theme, but we’re hoping, based upon the success, that it may become an annual event and we can pick different themes going forward.”
Autumn Fest takes place September 20 at Lions Hall in Elmira (40 South St. W.). Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and bands start at 8:30. There will also be a light meal. For tickets, contact 519-664-1900.
“It will be an opportunity to have a great night out with members of the community, while at the same time raising funds for an organization that supports your neighbours,” she said.
