Although it was midsummer, the equinox settled in on Floradale Wednesday afternoon. Make that the Equinoxss.
A group of automotive journalists test driving the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox made a lunchtime stop at Bonny Lou’s Café with a fleet of the crossover vehicles.
After flying in to Toronto from around the country midweek, the automotive writers critiquing the new vehicles were handed their directions, instructions and the keys. What would follow was a media ride and drive that would take them to Cambridge, Floradale, Blyth and Grand Bend.
“For a lot of them this is really their first chance to look at the vehicle and to do their reviews and write-ups,” explained Bill Rumsey of Odyssey International, the company that designed the route plan for the journalists.
Rumsey was among the Odyssey crew driving ahead of the automotive journalists to ensure that everything along the ride went smoothly.
Ten vehicles in total were doled out and in some cases were occupied by two writers who took turns driving the vehicles.
Diligently studied and prepared, the route was designed to include opportunities to test the vehicles on both paved and gravel roads. A rural back drop was integral for the route, and is a common theme for many of Odyssey’s other media rides, said Rumsey.
After Floradale, the drivers made their way to Grand Bend for an overnight stay, before heading back to Toronto the following day.
