The monthly meeting of the Historical Society of St. Boniface and Maryhill Community was held on Monday, August 27 in the Edward Halter Home at 7 p.m.
ARCHIVIST & GENEALOGY – During the months of July and August research was done for John Baxter (Hauck / Lehman), Robert Vandeemter (Maryhill B. & B), Brenda Bower (Klein / Reinhardt), and Teresa Bard (Gehl).
BIRTHDAY CLUB – Nineteen birthday cards were sent during July and 16 for August to members 80 years or older.
BUILDING MAINTENANCE – new lighting was installed to highlight the Schmuck pump display. New window wells will also be installed.

CHURCH – There were 2 deaths and 7 baptism’s during the summer. We are looking into cleaning and preserving some of the stones and iron crosses in the “Old Walled” cemetery. This will be a major undertaking and will take a couple of years. Received a picture of Sister Eleanor & Father Allister Olinski and also a picture of Sister on her 100th birthday.
COMMUNITY – A brief guided tour of Maryhill was made. Worked on pictures of the Bloomingdale 4-H club and the Maryhill Junior Farmers. Work is almost complete on the history of Maryhill Mini-Mart.
FUNDRAISING – Everything is starting to come together for Heritage Day. Tickets sales have been good and will be for sale at two weekend Masses in September – 8th & 9th and 15th & 16th. Silent Auction items have also started to come in.
MEMBERSHIP – One new lifetime membership was received and also a change of address for another member.
PUBLICATIONS – The next newsletter will be going out the middle of September.
RESOURCE CENTRE – The Schmuck reunion was held on Sunday, August 19th in the backyard of the Historical House and was well attended. A tour of the Schmuck monuments was prepared for the occasion. The flowerbeds have been looked after all summer.
SCHOOL – Received the 2017 / 18 St. Boniface School yearbook also a 1951 St. Jerome’s Lion year book.
WEBSITE CO-ORDINATOR – the website has been upgraded throughout the summer
