It was a perfect sunny day as 15 young people from St. Boniface parish made their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 6th at the 10 a.m. Mass. There was standing room only as family and friends gathered for this special event in these young people lives.
Welcoming greetings was given by St. Boniface School principal Marylin Dawson. Altar servers for the 1st Communicants were Hailee Kuntz and Communicant siblings Adrian Gronek and John Patrick Milloy.
Readings were given by Maria Gronek, Marcus Silva and Michael Milloy. Petitions were given by Marcus Silva, Oliver Offak, Ashlynn Graham, and Chase Huber, while Tracy Hoang, Olivia Kurtz and Niveah Mader were gift bearers.
The senior choir under the direction of Rosemary Flanagan, sang the responsorial psalm and the hymns during the celebration.
Catholic Women’s League president Fran Vegh presented Father Voisin with the scapulars, which he blessed and placed on each of the First Communicants.
Grade 2 teacher’s Karen Randall and Kyle Kraemer gave each of the students a gift on behalf of the St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League. They also received a First Communion certificate from the parish commemorating their special day.
Principal Marylin Dawson thanked everyone for attending and making this time special for the students.
There was a pew designated for each student and their immediate family. At the end of the pew was a special marker with their name on it.
The First Communicants this year are: Olivia Augusto, Lucas Egredzija, Isabella Giacomazzi, Ashlynn Graham, Maja Gronek, Joshua Hamilton, Maria Harris, Tracy Hoang, Ian Horvath, Chase Huber,, Olivia Kurtz, Michael Milloy, Oliver Offak and Marcus Silva.
A thank you was also given in the program to the Catholic Women’s League for providing the sacramental workbooks that the students had used to prepare themselves for this special day. Also for the Comfort Crosses and the beautiful scapulars.
