The 2017 Case IH Ultimate Rodeo Tour made a stop at Calhoun Stables in Breslau on July 7.
The one-day rodeo, which has been coming to the area for 20 years, brought in an audience of more than 1,000 last week to watch steer wrestling, roping, bareback and saddle bronc riding. Although all full-scale western rodeo events ran through the evening, the bull riding took a dark turn when a photographer was struck by a bull.
Norm Betts, long time photographer of the rodeo, took a quick glance down at his camera when he was hit by the animal. Making contact before he had the opportunity to react, the bull knocked him to the ground. Betts was taken to the Guelph General Hospital with cracked ribs and sternum. He is expected to make a speedy recovery
