St. Boniface students recognized for art achievement

At the Tuesday morning assembly, Feb. 2nd St. Boniface School  was pleased to welcome three members of the Maryhill Knights of Columbus.  During December the students were invited to take part in a “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest for the Maryhill Knights of Columbus Council and District.  The students who did a poster received their posters back  as well as  participation certificates.   Only the first place winners did not receive their poster back.

Winners for the age 5-7 age group were Angelina Martin & Gabe Doerr, age 8-10 were Claire Doerr and Kara Treuetlein and the 11-14 age group was Martina Oleszewski. These first place winners each received $25.00.

Honourable mention went to Miranda Harris who placed 2nd at council level and she received $15.00  These students poster will now be sent to the Supreme Knights of Columbus Headquarters in New Haven Connecticut for further judging. Presentations were made Tuesday by Warden of District 69 for the Knights of Columbus Tim Runstedler and Tom Runstedler recorder for the Maryhill Knights of Columbus.

The second presentation was made by  Knights of Columbus Youth Co-ordinator Gary Embro.  On Sunday,  January 24th the Maryhill Knights of Columbus held their annual Basketball Free Throw Championship  in the  St. Boniface School gym.  The winners at that time were presented with a certificate of participation,  a  basketball and a plaque.  At the Tuesday morning assembly these winners were presented  with their name plates to  be placed on their plaques.
