Sally Draper
A two-time participant, Sally Draper is hoping this experience will help her meet more people and teach her how to serve the people around her in more diverse ways. Her community and school involvements include regional director of HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) for Waterloo Region, organizing a workshop for more than 100 students this May, working at the St. Clements arena concession stand, participating on the student senate of Waterloo Region, EDSS student council, DECA, the debating team, and the rugby team. She will be studying international development at the University of Guelph in the fall with the goal of traveling, working with communities to develop sustainable farming and economical practices, and eventually pursuing a career in family law.

Katie Kneisel
With the gift of the gab, Katie Kneisel is excited to meet new people in Wellesley through the ambassador program and create lasting friendships. She’s looking forward to the leadership skills and other opportunities this will bring, as she loves talking to people and in front of people. The 17-year-old has been active in Wellesley for seven years with the Optimists Club, helping with Father’s Day, Family Day, and teen dance events. She’s also been dancing for 14 years, along with playing hockey and soccer. Her artsy side comes out too, having performed with the Community Players of New Hamburg for four years. She has one year left at Waterloo-Oxford Secondary School and hopes to become an English teacher, gym teacher, or youth minister.

Ceilidh McBay
Having spent her whole life in Wellesley, Ceilidh McBay is ready to get out of her comfort zone. A 2013 Waterloo-Oxford grad, she was nominated for the fall fair ambassador program by her employer, John Pym. She has worked at Pym’s Village Market in Wellesley since 2013. She’s considering what to do for post-secondary education, and has a keen interest in music and art. Her community involvements include the Apple Butter and Cheese Festival and the Lion’s Club sausage stand and pancake booth. The 19-year-old played piano for 10 years and is looking forward to the public speaking workshop the ambassador candidates will be participating in.

Emma Seip
Heading into her final year at Waterloo-Oxford this fall, Emma Seip, 17, is hoping the ambassador program will help her improve her public speaking and connect her with more local people. She’s planning to attend university next year, followed by a law degree, with the goal of becoming a lawyer. Her hobbies are reading, writing, fishing, camping, cooking, and baking. At school, she’s involved with the Agents for Change, a leadership club which helps Grade 9 students transition to high school, dance, and volleyball. She’s been involved with Art Round the Pond and the Optimist Club in Wellesley. She’s looking forward to working on her fair display because she’ll get to put her craft skills to good use. Her sponsor is Stroh Homes.
