Thieves make off with van, trailer and tools

A van and an aluminum dump trailer were reported stolen from Country Lane Builders in Hawkesville overnight on Nov. 12-13. The description of the vehicle matched that of a van which was found earlier that morning in Brant County and was reported to the OPP. The van is believed to have been stolen somewhere between 10 p.m. the previous night and 6 a.m. Nov. 13. Suspects also broke into another five vans nearby and stole tools.

Police think the suspect used the trailer to transport all the other stolen goods. While in Hawkesville, it seems as though the suspect then broke into another three vehicles, this time on Ament Line and again stole tools, as well as attempting unsuccessfully to break into a utility shed. The suspects then went on to Frey Building Contractors and entered two vehicles but left the scene when they discovered nothing of value in the vans. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Elmira detachment.
