Bloomingdale Women’s Institute “Take Time”

The Bloomingdale Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting on Monday, February 12 at the Bloomingdale United Church at 7:30 p.m.

The ladies were reminded of the District Annual Meeting which will be held at Wanner Mennonite Church, Cambridge on May 23rd.  The theme for the day is “Take Time.”

The nominating committee for forming the executive for next year are: Betty Ann Scott, Lorrie Snider and Kathleen Snyder.

The ladies cut out square from various materials which will be sewn into touch Quilts and donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. The patients like the feel of different textures so the quilts are sewn together using many fabrics. While some ladies were cutting others were tying a quilt.

Woman’s Day will be held on April 7th at New Dundee.  Cost is $35 if registering before March 9th. The topics include Cardiac Disease presented by St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Care Centre, Fashion Show by Nygard located at Sunrise Shopping Centre and Zamira Grand Harmony Quartet – members of the Grand Harmony Barbershop Quarter.  Registration at 8:45 a.m. with the  program at 9:30 a.m.  Lunch is included with 2 breaks.  Some of the proceeds will be donated to St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Care Equipment.

The March meeting will be held on Monday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m. in the Bloomingdale United Church.  The program will be making an Easter Craft and the roll call will be asking members to bring a stuffy to donate to the local Fire Department.
