One dead after passenger train strikes truck near Breslau


One person is dead after a cube van collided with a VIA Rail passenger train at the CN Rail crossing at Wurster Place in Breslau on Thursday afternoon. Initial reports suggested that the train was travelling at high speed when the accident occurred.

Waterloo Regional Police have not yet identified the deceased party, saying they had yet to notify next of kin.

The collision prompted a large turnout from emergency responders, including firefighters from Breslau and Maryhill.

In a media statement, the Transportation Safety Board said it had deployed an investigator and was still gathering information.
