Free Throw competition at St. Boniface School

was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, January 21st to enjoy the Basketball Free Throw Championship.  This event is sponsored yearly by the Maryhill Knights of Columbus and is held at the St. Boniface School gym.  Thank you to Gary Embro for chairing this event.

Registration began at 12:30 p.m. and at 1 p.m. sharp girls and boys from 9-12 years of age participated.  Each contestant had 3 practice shots followed by 15 consecutive shots.  The boys were on one side of the gym while the girls were on the other.

The 9-11-year-olds shot from 12 feet while the 12-14-year-old boys and girls were at the 15-foot line.  They could not go over their respective lines or the winning basket would not count.

First place winners for the girls were: Hailee Kuntz for the 9-year-olds, Kelsey Treutlein for the 10-year-olds and Clare Doerr for the 12-year-olds.  For the boys was Sam Silva for 9-year-olds, Aiden Maturana for 10-year-olds, Evan Sauve for the 13-year-olds and John Patrick Milloy for the 12-year-olds.

Each participant received a medallion and a participation certificate.  The winners received a certificate, plaque and a basketball which was present by Grand Knight Tim Vegh.

There was excellent basketball plays and it was wonderful watching spectators and players alike cheering whenever someone scored.
