Dedication of Monument

On Sunday June 12th after the 10 a.m. Mass in St. Boniface Church many Brohman descendants gathered to pay tribute to their ancestor – Frantz Joseph Brohmann.

Gottleib Brohmann immigrated to Canada in the early 1820”s  and was then followed by his three brothers – Frantz Joseph, Jacques (Jacob)  & Ignace (Ignatius).

Frantz Joseph was born the 26th of January, 1807 in Rountzenheim, Alsace, France and died 8th of August 1872 in New Germany (Maryhill).  He married Magdalena Schumann on 20th of February 1838 and they raised 11 children.

Following Mass the descendants proceeded to the “Old Walled” cemetery for the  unveiling of Frantz Joseph’s refurbished monument.

Ron Brohman from Helena, Montana along with local family members, Tom Schell, Rita (Brohman) Little, Irene (Brohman) Forbes, and Mary Ann Stroh were the driving force to replace the old headstone.  In fact the they have incorporated the old headstone in front of the new headstone.

Following the ceremony there was a meet and greet at the Historical Society for lunch and refreshments.
