It was a cold day but at least it was not raining as 10 young people from St. Boniface School made their first Holy Communion on Sunday, May 1st at the 10 a.m. Mass.
Readings were given by Hailee Kuntz and Johnathan Oke. Petitions were given by Angelina Martin, Sam Silva, Bianca Misheal, Rodrigo Lazo-Arevalo while Kyle Crew, Carson Zinger and Matteo Untario were gift bearers.
The senior choir under the direction of Theresa Bauer, sang the responsorial psalm and the hymns during the celebration.
Fran Vegh presented Father Ron Voisin with the scapulars which were purchased by the St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League, which he blessed and placed on each of the First Communicants.
Each student received a gift bag which contained a cross purchased from Bethlehem. These were purchased by the St. Boniface School Council. They also received a First Communion certificate from the parish to commemorate their special day. Cards from the staff and cards from their fellow classmates. A couple of weeks ago at their retreat they had made a special treasure box to keep their mementos of this special day.
Adrian Gronek thanked everyone for attending and making this day special for them.
Pews were designated for each student and their immediate family. At the end of the pew was a special marker with their name on it.
