St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League Meeting

The monthly meeting of the St. Boniface Catholic Women’s League was held on Thursday February 11th, 2016.

Mass was celebrated at 7 p.m. in church by Father Ron Voisin for the Intentions of the Living and Deceased members of our Council.


The Catholic Missions in Canada booklet and the Good Work Newspaper, Newsletters from K-W Right to Life, Birthright, and Catholic Missions, A thank you letter was received from Harold Albrecht, MP for Kitchener-Contestoga and the O’Drowsky family.

President Fran Vegh spoke on a project that the Maryhill Historical society would like to do in the form of a Garage Sale. Everyone was in favour. More information will be coming shortly.

Mary Campagnaro, ORGANIZATION CONVENOR reported we have 146 members.

CARD CONVENOR Maria O’Drowsky has sent 11 sympathy, 1 thank you and 1 get well card this year.

Barb Nosal SPIRITUAL CONVENOR spoke on Lent – 1) to give up – to sacrifice, 2) do one positive thing, 3) do a monetary thing. Barb suggested to give up something you would normally purchase and put that money in a container and bring to the next meeting and do this all during Lent. It was suggested helping the Carmelite Sisters in St. Agatha with the money that would be collected.

Pat Runstedler gave a brief report on the coming Valentine Rolled Rib Dinner that will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13th at the Maryhill Heritage Park Community Centre. Sittings are at 5 & 7 p.m. This is a co-event with the Mayhill Knights of Columbus. Help will be needed at 11 a.m. to help set up. She reminded everyone of the next Vegas Night which will be held on Saturday, April 30th at the Bridgeport Rod & Gun.

The Spring Regional meeting will be held on Saturday, March 12th at St. Joseph’s Church in Fergus.

President Fran Vegh handed out information on the May 13-15 96th Annual CWL Convention to be held at the Crowne Plaza in Kitchener. Opening Mass will be at Our Lady of Lourdes in Waterloo with Most Reverend Bishop Emeritus Anthony Tonnos and the closing Mass will be at St. Louis in Waterloo by Most Rev. Father Daniel Miehm.

The new executive for 2016 is: President – Frances Vegh, Past President – Mary Campagnaro, Treasurer – Helen Peacock, Secretary – Diane Strickler, Corresponding Secretary / Card Convenor – Maria O’Drowsky. Convenorships – Spiritual Development – Barb Nosal, Christian Family Life – Maria O’Drowsky, Organization – Mary Campagnaro, Community Life & Communication – Diane Strickler and Education & Heath – Judy Kittel.

Joan Brohman was thanked for convening the evening’s meeting and supplying the lovely lunch.

Convener for March will be Joanne Nederend.
