Woolwich councillors collected a total of $84,734 in pay and filed expense claims of $11,303 in 2012, according to a report discussed this week at township council. That compares to $$76,866 and $6,635 the previous year.

In a housekeeping measure mandated by the province, finance director Richard Petherick filed a statement of payments and expenses that was accepted by council at Tuesday night’s meeting. The Ontario Municipal Act gives municipalities until March 31 to make the details public.

Mayor Todd Cowan received $26,558, with expenses of $5,109. Each of the four ward councillors got $14,544, filing various expenses for such thing as mileage and conference fees: Mark Bauman, $545; Bonnie Bryant, $2,716; Julie-Anne Herteis, $1,216; Allan Poffenroth, $1,717.

Petherick’s report also noted the township paid five members of its Committee of Adjustment remuneration totaling $1,760 and expenses that amounted to $808.

In Wellesley, a similar report shows councillors received a total of $60,807 and filed expenses of $11,900.65 in 2012. For the previous year, the corresponding numbers were $59,795.89 and $14,255.59.

Mayor Ross Kelterborn was paid $17,152.12, drawing a mileage allowance of $2,199.96 and expenses of $135.01.

Each of the councillors received $10,913.72, and mileage allowances of $800.04. Herb Neher filed expenses of $2,074.06; Paul Hergott, $3,727.75; Jim Olender, $3,588.19; and Shelley Wagner, $2,375.64.

Four committee of adjustment members received $1,295, and received mileage costs of $440.50. Eight members of the recreation committee received a total of $520.
