The flag at EDSS was flying at half-mast Friday after the death of 16-year-old student Dani Tillich, who died Thursday afternoon from serious head injuries sustained in a collision July 8.

Tillich was struck by a pickup truck in St. Jacobs while she was crossing Sawmill Road near Parkside Drive.

The Maryhill-area teen had just gotten off a Grand River Transit bus and was crossing the street to catch another bus when she was hit by the truck, driven by a 33-year-old Waterloo man.

Tillich was transported to Grand River Hospital and then airlifted to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton with life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been laid in the incident and police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police traffic services division at 519-650-8500, ext. 8856.
