The owners of a grain elevator east of Breslau want to expand the operation to include a flour mill. Shantz Station Terminal Ltd.’s application for the necessary zone change went uncontested at a public meeting Tuesday night in Woolwich council chambers.

The company wants to build the mill to the south of the rail transfer facility already in place on the 108-acre property at 1855 Shantz Station Rd. It’s also seeking the removal of a 17,000-tonne restriction on the maximum storage on the site, allowing for the construction of five new silos to accommodate the flour mill.

As well, the applicant is seeking permission to build a 1,500-square-foot addition to the existing farmhouse to accommodate additional employees in the office area.
A decision on the application will be made at a later date, after planning staff has reviewed all of the information gathered in the process.
