Make it a Canadian Christmas

December 24, 2008 By:

Speaking of buying Canadian stuff, I sure hope that’s what folks have been up to this week at they’re doing Christmas shopping. It’s criminal to be buying imported stuff from the backwards parts of the planet at any time, but that’s more the case now that we’re in a recession. In the name of all that is holy, don’t go buyin’ crap from China.

If it was up to me, I’d have folks buyin’ nothing but stuff made in Canada first, the U.S. second, and then some or the proper countries in Europe or down under in Australia – things made by good people like decent Canadians.

The wife says if I’m gonna talk about Christmas, I ought to say some kind words for the season. I liked what the Observer boys had to say about a Merry Christmas, never mind all that politically correct horsefeathers – for me, it’s always about keepin’ the Christ in Christmas. Proper Christian beliefs are what made this country great. And it ain’t no surprise that Christmas is celebrated properly in only the best parts of the world, where we know what’s important.

As I’m writin’ this, I’m gettin’ set for a nice turkey dinner with all the fixings. We’ll be gettin’ together with family and friends, keepin’ the true meaning of our Saviour’s birth in mind and reflectin’ on how much better off we are for His havin’ been here.

Merry Christmas to all of you. And a very Happy New Year.

Good Lord willin’, I’ll see you folks next year – I never get tired of that one.
